Mineral-capped firewall

This mineral-surfaced felt capping forms a continuous waterproof layer over the exposed firewall. Correct preparation, bonding, laps, end details and transitions into the surrounding pitched roof are important to long-term performance.

Rendered firewall

A rendered firewall protects the masonry face from the weather, but the wall top, flashings and roof-to-wall junctions still need to be detailed as a complete system. Cracked or hollow render on its own is only part of the assessment.

Mineral-felt capping

Mineral-surfaced bituminous felt can be used to weather a suitable firewall or parapet top. A durable installation depends on the condition of the substrate, sensible falls, secure adhesion, properly formed laps and sound terminations where the wall meets chimneys, roof coverings or other structures.

Rendered firewalls

Do parapet repairs need scaffolding?

Often they do because the work is at roof edge level and must be safely accessed. The access method depends on height, roof type and surrounding ground conditions.
