Why does my gutter overflow in heavy rain?
Overflow can be caused by blockage, an outlet that cannot discharge quickly enough, incorrect gutter fall, poor bracket alignment, undersized rainwater components or a roof area that exceeds the capacity of the existing system.
Should guttering be perfectly level?
That depends on the product and system design. Many domestic installations use a modest fall toward the outlet, while some systems are designed differently. The important point is that the run follows the manufacturer's guidance and drains effectively.
How do I know if my downpipe is blocked?
Signs include water backing up at the outlet, overflowing above the downpipe, slow discharge during rainfall or leaks at joints. The restriction can also be lower down in the rainwater drainage route.
Can guttering be replaced without changing the fascia?
Yes, provided the fascia is sound, straight and capable of holding new brackets securely. If the fascia is rotten or distorted, roofline work may be needed first.
