From ground level, a slipped tile can be obvious while the failed valley above it remains hidden. Drone photography can provide a controlled overview of upper slopes, chimney tops, ridges, parapets and gutters without placing someone on an unproven roof simply to obtain an initial view.
We use drone imagery where it is safe, lawful, proportionate and useful for the quotation. Weather, nearby people, restricted airspace, trees, wires and the shape of the building can all prevent or limit a flight. A drone is therefore an inspection aid, not a guaranteed part of every visit.
High-resolution images can help explain visible defects and plan access, but they do not reveal concealed timber condition, trapped moisture or the underside of a membrane. Close physical or intrusive inspection may still be required before a permanent specification is finalised.

The most efficient enquiry often begins with customer photographs and a description of when the problem occurs. We then decide whether ground inspection, drone imagery or direct access is the appropriate next step.
A flight is planned around the site and conditions. Images are reviewed in the context of internal symptoms and the roof’s construction, not treated as an isolated collection of close-ups.
This service supports roofing diagnosis and quotations. It is not automatically a structural survey, valuation survey or specialist thermographic report.
Across East and West Sussex
Useful on terraces, rural homes and larger premises
Tight Brighton terraces can make rear slopes difficult to view; rural West Sussex homes may have long drives, mature trees and multiple roof levels; commercial buildings can contain broad flat roofs with numerous outlets and rooflights. Drone imagery can add different value in each setting.
Suitability is assessed case by case. Proximity to controlled or restricted areas, roads, crowds, overhead services and poor weather can change the inspection method. We will not fly simply because a customer asks if the conditions are not appropriate.

Drone roof inspection FAQs
Can you fly a drone at every property?
No. Weather, airspace, nearby people, roads, trees, wires and site layout can make a flight unsuitable or restrict what can be photographed.
Does a drone replace scaffolding?
It can reduce unnecessary initial access, but it cannot replace close physical inspection or safe working access when repairs are carried out.
Can the camera see through tiles or flat-roof membranes?
No. Ordinary photographic imagery records visible surfaces only. Concealed timber decay, wet insulation and hidden membrane defects may require access or intrusive checks.
Will I receive photographs?
Photographs are included with written quotations where available and useful. The exact image set depends on the inspection and conditions.
Is this a structural building survey?
No. It is a roofing inspection aid for visible condition and quotation planning unless a different specialist service is expressly agreed.
Can you inspect an active leak urgently?
Same-day attendance may be possible depending on availability, weather and safe access, but poor flying conditions may require a different inspection method.
